TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 A man was arrested early Sunday morning after troopers said he led them in a pursuit before surrendering in Tampa.<\/p>\n
According to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report, a trooper spotted a white Ford Fiesta traveling eastbound on I-4 at 136 mph at 2:24 a.m.<\/p>\n
The trooper activated the patrol vehicle\u2019s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, but the Ford showed no signs of stopping.<\/p>\n
The vehicle continued eastbound before exiting at Mile Marker 9 to I-75 and traveling northbound on the ramp. The Ford then passed an SUV on the shoulder and almost collided with a tanker truck, arrest papers said.<\/p>\n
The car was in the outside lane of I-75, exceeding 140 mph, when the driver turned on his hazard lights, slowed down, and stopped the Ford near Mile Marker 263.<\/p>\n
The driver, identified as Ahmed Ramadan, 26, exited the vehicle and was placed into custody.<\/p>\n
Ramadan told troopers that he fled because his car was not registered and he was scared, arrest papers said. After running the license plate, troopers confirmed that the vehicle was not registered.<\/p>\n
Ramadan was arrested for fleeing to elude, dangerous excessive speeding, and attached tag not assigned.<\/p>\n
