The following activities are free to the public:<\/p>\n<p>Adult Programs<\/p>\n<p>Download Drop-In<\/p>\n<p>11 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 21<\/p>\n<p>Receive personalized help downloading eBooks, eAudioBooks, movies, music and more from Libby\/OverDrive and hoopla, two of Lee County Library System\u2019s popular online content providers. Support also will be available to registered users of the National Library Service\u2019s Braille and Audio Reading Download service (BARD) which is provided through Home Borrower Services and Lee County Talking Books. <\/p>\n<p>Note: Attendees should bring their favorite tablet, e-reader or phone. Be sure it\u2019s fully charged and have your passwords for downloading apps available. Kindle users also must have an Amazon account and password. Patrons interested in BARD should contact Talking Books at 239-533-4780 before attending to ensure they have an active account or find out how to set one up.<\/p>\n<p>English Caf\u00e9<\/p>\n<p>6 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 14, 21, 28<\/p>\n<p>10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 17, 24, 31<\/p>\n<p>Free, informal conversation sessions for adult ESOL\/ESL students.<\/p>\n<p>Beginner Spanish Class<\/p>\n<p>2 p.m., Wednesday, July 8<\/p>\n<p>This course is designed for those new to the Spanish language. Learn fundamental vocabulary, essential phrases and basic grammar in a fun, informal and interactive environment. Join us and learn the basics to start a conversation. Registration is required.<\/p>\n<p>Children\u2019s Programs<\/p>\n<p>Learn, Play &amp; Grow with Healthy Start of SWFL<\/p>\n<p>10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with Healthy Start of SWFL, free developmental screenings will be offered for children from ages\u00a02 months\u00a0to\u00a05 years. Children can enjoy crafts, books, toys and games that help them learn and grow while parents can ask questions and receive helpful resources. No registration is required, but space is limited to 40 children plus their caregiver. Tickets available 30 minutes before the program.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Glen and the Readers of the Lost Book<\/p>\n<p>2 p.m., Thursday, July 9<\/p>\n<p>For ages 6-11 years. Join Mr. Glen on his quest to repair a childhood storybook where the pages have been strewn throughout the world. Learn about fossils, landforms, geology and earth\u2019s place in the galaxy. Using simple machines, we will solve problems and reveal the locations of each missing page in this adventurous summer reading program. Registration is required and is valid only until the start of the program. Please arrive 15 minutes early to guarantee your spot in the program.<\/p>\n<p>Kids\u00a0Read Down Fines<\/p>\n<p>1-2 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 18<\/p>\n<p>Children and teens with overdue fines can reduce their fine by $2 for every 15 minutes they read during this program. Each child can earn up to a maximum of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to overdue fines on cards issued to patrons under the age of 18 as well as overdue fines for juvenile and teen materials checked out on their behalf on adult cards. Credit earned may only be used for overdue fines. Please bring your library card and check in at youth desk.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tiny Tents and Playtime<\/p>\n<p>10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 15<\/p>\n<p>For ages 2-5 years. Explore playful summer themed stations that spark movement, sensory exploration, creativity and imagination. No registration required, but space is limited to 50 children plus their caregiver. Tickets available 30 minutes before start of program.<\/p>\n<p>Jacki Manna and the Comedy Crew<\/p>\n<p>2 p.m. Thursday, July 16<\/p>\n<p>For ages 6-11 years. Join us for a zany and humorous show featuring interactive fun and audience participation with magician and ventriloquist Jacki Manna. This show will have you laughing for days. Registration is required and is valid only until the start of the program. Please arrive 15 minutes early to guarantee your spot in the program.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighter Storytime<\/p>\n<p>10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 22<\/p>\n<p>For children through age\u00a05 years. Meet with our hometown heroes and tour a fire truck. The Cape Coral Fire Department will join us for this special event featuring stories, an equipment show-and-tell and safety tips. No registration is required, but space is limited to 75 children plus their caregiver. Tickets available 30 minutes before start of program.<\/p>\n<p>Big Stories, Big Science with IMAG<\/p>\n<p>2 p.m., Thursday, July 23<\/p>\n<p>For ages 6-11 years. IMAG joins the library for a fiery summer reading program. Get ready for a messy, hair-raising, explosive, freezing and thrilling show. Watch IMAG create colorful fireballs, ignite giant Whoosh Tubes, light bubbles on fire in their hands, erupt a giant bubbling Nitrogen cloud, create arcs of lightning with their Van de Graff Machine and more. Registration is required and is valid only until the start of the program. Please arrive 15 minutes early to guarantee your spot in the program.<\/p>\n<p>Teen Programs<\/p>\n<p>Teen Blacklight Bingo<\/p>\n<p>2 p.m., Tuesday, July 7<\/p>\n<p>For ages 12-18 years. Join us for an electrifying hour filled with neon colors, music and bingo. Wear your brightest neon or white clothing to stand out in the glow. Bring your friends, test your luck and enjoy a fun time designed just for teens. Snacks provided. Join us for our End-of-Summer Bash featuring giant board games, music and activities. Snacks will be provided while they last.
