I hope you had a great weekend and you got to celebrate Father\u2019s Day with your Dad right here\u00a0on Earth; or\u00a0remembering your Father that\u2019s not with us anymore because he\u2019s in a better place. If you got to go fishin\u2019 with your Dad, I\u2019m sure you had a good time. I always appreciate the times that I got to fish with my grandfather, my dad, my son; and\u00a0now,\u00a0my grandson! Four generations of fishermen;\u00a0five\u00a0generations, countin\u2019 me! And if I live long enough, maybe my great-grandson! You need to pass your passion for fishin\u2019 \u201con down the river\u201d for all those comin\u2019 behind you to enjoy. Passin\u2019 on\u00a0our\u00a0knowledge\u00a0is really important, ya know! We never want it said, \u201cWell, I\u2019d love to go fishin\u2019, but nobody ever showed me\u00a0how!\u201d<\/p>\n
In case you haven\u2019t noticed it\u2019s summertime! We\u2018ve been havin\u2019 some hot days and just a little bit of rain. The lakes and the rivers are very low. I talked to John over at Bitters B&T, and he reports that the water is very low in Lake Monroe. If you enjoy fishin\u2019 off the seawall, you need to be able to cast out pretty far due to the low water. If you cast to the deeper water, you should be able to catch a mixed bag of panfish and a few catfish.<\/p>\n

See Member Benefits<\/a>Join Our Newsletter<\/a><\/p>\n The fishin\u2019 up around Highland Park Fish Camp has been good lately. Folks are catchin\u2019 some nice bass on shiners. You can get your shiners at the Fish Camp and go out and catch you some bass!<\/p>\n The bass fishin\u2019 has slowed down some, but a few folks are still catchin\u2019 some nice bags of bass. The tournaments currently bein\u2019 held at night are still catchin\u2019 some nice bass. The Maitland Shootout on Lake Fairview had a great time catchin\u2019 fish! Congrats\u00a0to the team of Dumas and Kip who had three bass that hit the scales at 14.42 pounds. They also had big bass that weighed 5.78 pounds. There were three bass caught that weighed in at over 5 pounds.<\/p>\n The John\u2019s Lake Wednesday Night Shootout had 22 fish, and it took three bass that weighed 10.40 pounds to win. Congrats\u00a0to the team of Hunter Ray and Colin Britten on their win. Adam Eddington and Uby Rosell caught the biggest bass that weighed 5.95 pounds.<\/p>\n Folks are still catchin\u2019 plenty of bass in the Butler Chain. Try fishin\u2019 the shoreline grass with topwater baits early, and then switch over to plastic worms or slow sinkin\u2019 Senko type baits durin\u2019\u00a0the day. Try and find some cooler water durin\u2019 the day. Look for submerged hydrilla and eelgrass beds. You should try fishin\u2019 the peppergrass patches, as well. <\/p>\n Congrats\u00a0to Enzo Viera on his latest catch. He caught a nice 6.5-pounder on a weedless topwater bait in Little Lake Harris.<\/p>\n Folks are still catchin\u2019 shellcrackers in Lake Kissimmee. You need to get on the water at first light, bring some red worms, and catch a limit before that ole sun gets too\u00a0high in the sky. \u00a0<\/p>\n The bass fishin\u2019 on The Headwaters is still goin\u2019 strong\u2026\u00a0if\u00a0you get on the water early. Some nice bass are bein\u2019 caught early on topwater baits. Once the topwater bite is over, try flippin\u2019 the heavy cover with your favorite creature baits.<\/p>\n Well, that\u2019s it for this week.
