CLAY COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 UPDATE: The bridge has reopened in both directions.<\/p>\n
The Shands Bridge is currently closed for an unknown period of time in both directions after a barge struck it Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n
Drivers who rely on the bridge should use the Buckman Bridge as a detour at this time.<\/p>\n
Hampton Ray, community outreach manager for FDOT, told First Coast News the barge has been removed, and that crews are now inspecting the bridge.<\/p>\n
Once the inspection has been complete, the bridge will reopen, FDOT said. There is currently no timeline for how long the bridge will stay closed, according to Ray.<\/p>\n
