ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 A YouTube channel that once featured motorcycles appearing to weave dangerously through Central Florida traffic at speeds exceeding 150 mph may be coming to an end \u2014 and the creator is pointing to Florida\u2019s new \u201cSuper Speeder\u201d law as the reason.<\/p>\n
Dallas Ashley, the great-grandson of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and grandson of NASCAR\u2019s former CEO Jim France, suggested in a newly posted video<\/a> that he may discontinue his \u201cSpeed Demon 407\u201d YouTube channel.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like this is going to be the last video on the channel,\u201d Ashley said. \u201cI just don\u2019t have the same passion ever since the \u2018Super Speeder\u2019 law. I feel paranoid.\u201d<\/p>\n Ashley acknowledged the legal risk he now faces under the new statute.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of time before my ass gets taken to f***ing jail,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n New law raises the stakes<\/p>\n Florida\u2019s Dangerous Excessive Speeding law, commonly referred to as the \u201cSuper Speeder\u201d law, took effect July 1, 2025. <\/p>\n Law enforcement officers now have the authority to immediately arrest motorists suspected of driving 50 mph or more above the posted speed limit or driving 100 mph or more \u201cin a manner that threatens the safety of other persons or property\u201d. <\/p>\n If convicted, offenders face up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for a first offense.<\/p>\n Ashley appeared to reference the law\u2019s reach in his newly posted video, saying of his motorcycle: \u201cI bought this thing to go 200 (mph). It\u2019s a felony to just go half that.\u201d<\/p>\n News 6 was unable to reach Ashley by phone, and he did not respond to a text message offering the opportunity to comment about the possible end of his YouTube channel.<\/p>\n Hundreds of people have been arrested statewide under the law. <\/p>\n A recent News 6 review of court records<\/a> showed the outcome for accused drivers has ranged from additional jail time and fines to at least one jury acquittal.<\/p>\n
