{"id":320605,"date":"2026-06-26T13:13:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T13:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/320605\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T13:13:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T13:13:15","slug":"free-sports-physicals-and-heart-screenings-in-orlando","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/320605\/","title":{"rendered":"Free sports physicals and heart screenings in Orlando"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 AdventHealth and Orange County Public Schools will provide free sports physicals and heart screenings for student-athletes and other eligible students on Saturday, June 27. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">The event will take place at Edgewater High School in Orlando.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">The free screenings are being offered as a new Florida law, taking effect in July, mandates heart screenings for certain student-athletes to help identify potential heart conditions associated with sudden cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">OCPS requires each student-athlete to receive an electrocardiogram screening before participating in their first high school sport for the 2026-27 school year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">The event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include free pre-participation sports physicals and electrocardiogram heart screenings. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 eJzHXc body-paragraph\">Eligibility extends to OCPS students in grades 6-12 participating in sports.
