{"id":321387,"date":"2026-06-27T00:47:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T00:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/321387\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T00:47:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T00:47:13","slug":"trust-me-youre-gonna-feel-it-ending-tps-for-haitians-will-have-workforce-fallout-leaders-fear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/321387\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Trust me, you\u2019re gonna feel it\u2019: Ending TPS for Haitians will have workforce fallout, leaders fear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 The U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s ruling clearing the way for the Trump administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/world\/2026\/06\/25\/the-supreme-court-lets-the-trump-administration-end-legal-protections-for-haitians-and-syrians\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/world\/2026\/06\/25\/the-supreme-court-lets-the-trump-administration-end-legal-protections-for-haitians-and-syrians\/\">to end Temporary Protected Status<\/a> for more than 350,000 Haitians in the country is not only sparking outcry about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/06\/25\/supreme-court-ruling-on-haitian-tps-sparks-outcry-at-miami-protest\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/06\/25\/supreme-court-ruling-on-haitian-tps-sparks-outcry-at-miami-protest\/\">the human impact<\/a>, but the potential impact on the South Florida workforce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">South Florida is home to the largest Haitian community in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Community leaders, immigration advocates and Haitian families gathered in Miami\u2019s Little Haiti neighborhood on Friday decrying the end to TPS for Haitians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">But TPS holder Farah Larrieux said she can\u2019t allow herself to be sad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt takes courage and determination to fight evil,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Local 10 News reporter Christian De La Rosa asked, \u201cYou think that decision from the Supreme Court was evil?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cYes. It is evil,\u201d Larrieux replied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Many are also fearing the potential hit to the area\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">TPS Haitians are known for working in industries like hospitality and long-term care for seniors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThey are our working men and women,\u201d Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said at a news conference on Friday. \u201cThey are our business owners. They create jobs.
