{"id":321535,"date":"2026-06-27T04:50:24","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T04:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/321535\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T04:50:24","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T04:50:24","slug":"scottish-world-cup-fans-headed-for-miami-but-ended-up-in-kc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/321535\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish World Cup fans headed for Miami but ended up in KC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/scotty.jpg\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" title=\"Paul and his friends were not upset about accidentally ending up in Kansas City.\" alt=\"Paul and his friends were not upset about accidentally ending up in Kansas City.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>        Paul and his friends were not upset about accidentally ending up in Kansas City.<\/p>\n<p>                Screengrab of WC26 Instagram account<\/p>\n<p>Scotland lost 3-0 to Brazil on Wednesday in their Group C matchup, and it could be because a group of fans weren\u2019t in Miami as planned to cheer on the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Nine Scottish fans were instead at Kansas City\u2019s Fan Festival on Wednesday and caught the eye of the KC2026 planning committee\u2019s social media-team.<\/p>\n<p>Scottish fans being in Kansas City to watch their team play did seem a bit out of place, and they stuck out on the grounds of the National World War I Museum and Memorial.<\/p>\n<p>One of the fans named Paul grabbed the microphone and explained that they had accidentally ended up in Kansas City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nine of us here from Scotland, and we were supposed to be in Miami for the game tonight, but we got on the wrong flight, and we ended up in Kansas City,\u201d Paul said. \u201cYou know, it\u2019s been OK, it\u2019s worked out well. A few beers, what\u2019s not to like?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure that nine fans can all miss the same flight. But perhaps they were confused and booked flights to our fair city that, honestly, has felt sort of like Florida this summer. Or maybe it\u2019s because our airport code is MCI, which can look like Miami.<\/p>\n<p>The good news: These guys weren\u2019t upset by the mistake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKansas City is fabulous, right?\u201d Paul said. \u201cAnd we\u2019re going to the Holland-Tunisia game tomorrow, and we\u2019re going in our full Scotland skirt and shirt.
