The historic, nonprofit Florida Theatre held its annual fundraiser, The Florida Theatre Ball: An Evening In The Tropics, presented by DEX Imaging, on May 16. The organization\u2019s signature fundraiser raised more than $200,000 in support of the arts and culture in downtown Jacksonville. David Benfield, co-host of \u201cFirst Coast Living,\u201d served as emcee and auctioneer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Florida Theatre Ball: An Evening In The Tropics was a night to remember and all for a great cause,\u201d said Angela Merritt, senior account manager of the presenting sponsor. \u201cDEX Imaging is proud to support such an iconic venue and the incredible work it does in the community. It was a perfect blend of tropical nightlife, fun and support for the arts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since its creation, the event has raised more than $2.2 million since 2013 to preserve and maintain the majestic 99-year-old Florida Theatre venue.<\/p>\n
The Florida Theatre\u2019s next fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 9. The theme is All In For The Arts: Florida Theatre Casino Night at the Florida Theatre.
