The governor also argued the bill could lead to increased surveillance by local governments to monitor compliance with the speed restriction.While the statewide proposal will not become law, several South Florida communities already have their own regulations on e-bikes and similar devices.In Palm Beach, some of the strictest rules are already in place. E-bikes, scooters and other similar devices are prohibited on sidewalks, trails and the Lake Trail. Riders must also be at least 15 years old and carry identification.In Vero Beach, riders must be at least 16 years old to operate a Class 3 e-bike, which can reach speeds of up to 28 mph.
