{"id":322006,"date":"2026-06-27T19:27:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T19:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/322006\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T19:27:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T19:27:19","slug":"sarasota-driver-charged-with-hitting-142-mph-on-interstate-75","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/322006\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarasota driver charged with hitting 142 mph on Interstate 75"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"h966095-p1\" class=\"permalinkable\">A Sarasota man who highway patrol troopers said was driving at more than 140 miles an hour in a high-performance car was arrested just before midnight and taken to Sarasota County Jail on a charge connected with Florida\u2019s super-speeder laws.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h966095-p2\" class=\"permalinkable\">Isreal Jacob Acosta was taken to jail immediately after the 11:56 p.m. arrest on Friday.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h966095-p3\" class=\"permalinkable\">Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the man was driving a Ford Mustang GT at 142 mph on Interstate 75, northbound just north of Fruitville Road.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h966095-p4\" class=\"permalinkable\">He was charged with dangerous excessive speed. Enacted in July 2025, Florida\u2019s super-speeder law applies to cases of driving more than 50 mph over the speed limit (which is 70 mph in that area), the offense is classified as a misdemeanor criminal case.
