(WFLA) \u2014 A St. Petersburg woman was accused of stealing over $72,000 worth of cigarettes from a gas station and then selling them to other stores in a months-long scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cAlmost every day for approximately two months,\u201d Brittany Jenkins, 36, walked into a Circle K on 66th Street North, pretended to use a microwave next to the storage room, and then slipped inside while the cashier was distracted, a Pinellas Park Police Department arrest report said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a class=\"link  yahoo-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/florida-laws-100-bills-effect-003242899.html\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:New Florida laws: 100+ bills go into effect July 1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;New Florida laws&quot;}\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> New Florida laws: 100+ bills go into effect July 1 <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Jenkins would fill a reusable shopping bag with cartons of cigarettes before leaving the store, according to police. She was accused of selling the stolen merchandise to two other stores for half their value.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Wednesday, officers stopped Jenkins\u2019 car after she left the store and found $711.40 worth of stolen cigarettes, the arrest report said. Police said she confessed to the scheme, which resulted in a $72,210 loss.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Jenkins was charged with scheme to defraud ($50,000 or more), grand theft (greater than $20,000), and dealing in stollen property.
