The latest headlines and weather from WPBF 25<\/a><\/p>\nFlorida State Parks announced that admission fees for day-use visitors will be waived from Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5, as part of celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n
The state park system includes a variety of destinations across Florida, from beaches and springs to wetlands, caverns and historic sites. Visitors can take part in activities such as hiking, swimming, paddling, wildlife viewing and horseback riding.<\/p>\n
Florida’s state parks are also home to cultural and historical attractions, including forts, battlefields, archaeological sites and landmarks.<\/p>\n
State officials say Florida’s park system welcomed more than 28 million visitors during the last fiscal year and generated an estimated $3.6 billion in economic impact statewide.<\/p>\n
The free admission offer applies only to day-use visits. It does not include admission to Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Skyway Fishing Pier State Park or Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.<\/p>\n
Fees for overnight stays, special events, concessions and equipment rentals will still apply.<\/p>\n
