ORANGE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENT ATHLETES ARE PREPARING TO GET BACK ONTO THE FIELDS AND COURTS AHEAD OF THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR. WE\u2019RE HERE AT EDGEWATER HIGH SCHOOL TODAY WITH ADVENTHEALTH DOING SPORTS PREPARTICIPATION PHYSICALS SATURDAY MORNING. JOHN FLEMING WAS ONE OF THE HUNDREDS OF PARENTS THAT BROUGHT HIS SON TO GET A FREE SPORTS, PHYSICAL AND EKG HEART SCREENING. THIS IS A STRESS RELIEVER, TO BE HONEST WITH YOU. On Saturday morning, John Fleming was among the hundreds of parents who brought their children to receive a free sports physical and EKG heart screening. “This is a stress relief, to be honest with you,” Fleming said. The screenings come as a new Florida law, effective in July, requires student-athletes to undergo heart screenings. “Every athlete wants to be at the first practice and make a name for themselves, so we want to be able to get ahead of it,” Youmans said.
