On Saturday morning, John Fleming was among the hundreds of parents who brought their children to receive a free sports physical and EKG heart screening. “This is a stress relief, to be honest with you,” Fleming said. The screenings come as a new Florida law, effective in July, requires student-athletes to undergo heart screenings. “Every athlete wants to be at the first practice and make a name for themselves, so we want to be able to get ahead of it,” Youmans said.
