Florida lawmakers regularly approve honorary names for highways, bridges, and public facilities recognizing presidents, military veterans, first responders, community leaders, athletes, and other notable figures.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It’s Part of a Bigger Naming Trend<\/p>\n
This isn’t the only transportation landmark receiving a new name.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Gov. Ron DeSantis also signed legislation renaming Palm Beach International Airport as President Donald J. Trump International Airport.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Additional legislation awaiting final action would designate Commercial Boulevard in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea as President Donald J. Trump Boulevard, while another roadway in Miami-Dade County would become Charlie Kirk Memorial Avenue.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, a portion of Southern Boulevard near Mar-a-Lago also received an honorary Trump designation.<\/p>\n
Drivers Already Have Plenty to Say<\/p>\n
Even before the first honorary signs have been installed, the upcoming designation has generated plenty of discussion online.<\/p>\n
Some commenters reacted with humor. One joked, “I hear the surface will be painted orange.” Others wondered how quickly the new signs would become one of Florida’s most photographed roadside landmarks, while many simply expressed surprise that the designation is officially taking effect.<\/p>\n
