MARION COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 Florida Fish and Wildlife officials shared news Sunday of a second alligator bite in Central Florida in the past week. <\/p>\n

Officials say a juvenile was bitten Saturday at Nelson\u2019s Fish Camp in Umatilla.<\/p>\n

FWC said an 8\u20197\u2033 alligator bit the victim on the hand while they were fishing. <\/p>\n

FWC says The alligator was later killed by an officer. <\/p>\n

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, though the extent of their injuries was not shared.<\/p>\n

The bite comes just one week after a snorkeler was bitten while swimming at Rainbow Springs State Park in Marion County.<\/a><\/p>\n

The extent of that injury was not shared, but the 8-foot alligator was removed and the park was later reopened to swimmers, according to FWC.<\/p>\n

The man has since been released from the hospital.<\/p>\n

After Saturday\u2019s bite, officials reminded the public that while serious alligator injuries are rare, FWC\u2019s Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program removes alligators that pose a danger to people, pets or property.<\/p>\n

FWC\u2019s toll-free nuisance alligator hotline is 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286).<\/p>\n
