Key Biscayne’s First Lady, Ana Rasco, says she is honored to have been selected to join the Board of Trustees of HCA Florida Mercy Hospital<\/a>, a facility near and dear to her heart, and one with a closer connection to the Village.<\/p>\n

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to volunteer my time in support of an organization that plays such an important role in the health and well-being of our community,” said Ana, the wife of Mayor Joe Rasco. “I feel a very special connection to Mercy, as it is the hospital where my children and grandchildren were born, as well as the hospital where my grandparents, parents and in-laws received their healthcare.”<\/p>\n

Ever since Allyssa Tobitt became the CEO<\/a> of Mercy Hospital in mid-2024, it has made an even bigger impact throughout the county. Mercy Hospital, which was founded in 1950, has expanded to nearly 500 beds in its South Miami Avenue waterfront location.<\/p>\n

“I have also been impressed by Mercy\u2019s growing presence in our community, particularly its ongoing outreach efforts at the Key Biscayne Community Center,” Ana said. “These initiatives, including health fairs and professional speakers, reflect a commitment to meeting people where they are and promoting health and wellness beyond the walls of the hospital.<\/p>\n

“As the closest hospital to Key Biscayne, Mercy has long been a trusted healthcare resource for island residents. Its accessibility, outstanding care, and commitment to community engagement make it a natural choice for many local families.”<\/p>\n

Re-branded in 2022 as HCA Florida Mercy Hospital, it remains as Miami-Dade County’s only Catholic hospital. HCA Florida Healthcare is the state’s largest network of hospitals.<\/p>\n
