TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 A Florida judge set bond at $1 million Monday for Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, who is accused in a Tampa kidnapping and armed robbery case<\/a> tied to an alleged retaliation plot.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old NFL player appeared in court Monday for a pretrial detention hearing after previously being held without bond. Prosecutors had asked that Arnold remain jailed while the case moves forward, but the judge denied that request and set bond with conditions.<\/p>\n

Arnold is accused of helping instigate an attack on three people who prosecutors said were beaten, pistol-whipped and held at gunpoint<\/a> in February in Tampa. Investigators said the alleged attack happened days after Arnold reported more than $250,000 worth of personal property had been stolen from an Airbnb rental.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors argued Arnold and others took the law \u201cinto their own hands\u201d after the theft report. Authorities have said seven people were arrested in connection with the case, and two have already pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n

Arnold will be required to remain at his home in Tallahassee except for when he is playing, training or traveling with the Lions. The judge also ordered him to surrender his passport within 48 hours and barred him from having contact with others tied to the case.<\/p>\n

Chief Circuit Court Judge Chrstopher Sabella did not require Arnold to wear an ankle monitor, saying it would interfere with football activities. The judge said Arnold already has a \u201cpaparazzi monitor,\u201d referring to photographers watching his movements.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he shows up on a beach in Tahiti, he\u2019ll be on social media,\u201d Sabella said at the end of the hearing, according to the AP.<\/p>\n

Arnold\u2019s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, denied that Arnold directed or knew what his associates were going to do. In court Monday, Steinberg argued prosecutors are \u201cnot even close\u201d to proving Arnold\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n

Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, which represents Arnold, said the judge\u2019s ruling \u201cconfirms that there is very little evidence to even suggest any criminal involvement by Mr. Arnold,\u201d according to the AP.<\/p>\n

CBS12 previously reported that Arnold turned himself in last week and was booked into the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County. He faces multiple felony charges connected to the alleged kidnapping and robbery investigation.<\/p>\n

Following Monday\u2019s hearing, ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter reported that the Detroit Lions announced they released Arnold. CBS12 has reached out for additional confirmation.<\/p>\n

Arnold was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football at Alabama.<\/p>\n

The case remains pending in Hillsborough County.<\/p>\n
