{"id":323928,"date":"2026-06-29T22:49:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T22:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/323928\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T22:49:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T22:49:08","slug":"family-mourns-loss-of-5-year-old-boy-struck-by-truck-while-riding-bike-in-nw-miami-dade-wsvn-7news-miami-news-weather-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/323928\/","title":{"rendered":"Family mourns loss of 5-year-old boy struck by truck while riding bike in NW Miami-Dade &#8211; WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A family in South Florida is mourning the loss of their 5-year-old child. <\/p>\n<p>The family said Garret Leonard <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/mdso-child-riding-bicycle-fatally-struck-by-pick-up-truck-in-nw-miami-dade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">was fatally struck<\/a> last Friday in the parking lot of Miami Motorcross Park off Krome Avenue. <\/p>\n<p>Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office Deputies said Leonard was riding his bike between parked cars when he came into the path of a pickup truck. <\/p>\n<p>Officials said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.  <\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, Miami Motorcross canceled the events that had been planned for the weekend. <\/p>\n<p>Leonard\u2019s family remembers their loved one as a \u201cvibrant child who had an infectious smile,\u201d according to their GoFundMe page. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
