Today is the day! Let the frenzy begin!<\/p>\n
While the Miami Heat extended Andrew Wiggins and retained Simone Fontecchio for the minimum, they still have big fish to fry with free agency tipping off at 6:00 p.m. EST.<\/p>\n
With 11 players rostered, including rookie Ryan Conwell, the Heat have less than $17 million in space below the hard cap (first apron), barring any other moves over the next several hours.<\/p>\n
Who are my favorite free agents available? Let\u2019s examine!<\/p>\n

The LeBron James Tier:<\/p>\n
LeBron James, F, Lakers:<\/p>\n
Skinny: Word has come out that he\u2019s leaving the Lakers. For (most of) the MLE, why not?<\/p>\n
Potentially out of the Miami Heat\u2019s price range:<\/p>\n
Sandro Mamukelashvili, C, Raptors:<\/p>\n
Skinny: A stretch big with a dribble\/pass\/shoot skillset in a limited role off the bench? Sign me up! Mamu needs to improve defensively, but there will be enough to cover him up.<\/p>\n
Quentin Grimes, G, 76ers:<\/p>\n
Skinny: I\u2019ll scream<\/a> Grimes until I\u2019m blue in the face. I feel like I\u2019m turning into a smurf. He\u2019s a best-case scenario option, in my opinion.<\/p>\n Anfernee Simons, G, Bulls:<\/p>\n Skinny: Are we sure Simons slips through the cracks? I go back and forth. His archetype is flawed, but he made north of $17 million last year and was pretty productive for two different franchises. Nevertheless, he\u2019d be a good get for shot creation\/shooting, even though his defense is abhorrent.<\/p>\n Mitchell Robinson, C, Knicks:<\/p>\n Skinny: Free throw shooting notwithstanding, I love me some Mitch Robinson. His screen-setting, rebounding and shot-blocking are skillset the Heat could use in a limited bench role, although he does present a clunky fit alongside either Adebayo and\/or Antetokounmpo.<\/p>\n Peyton Watson, F, Nuggets:<\/p>\n Skinny: My hunch is that 1.) The Nuggets dump salary somewhere to toss Watson the bag or 2.) Someone not named the Heat will, forcing Denver to match. But he\u2019s one of my favorite options.<\/a><\/p>\n 10 Favorite Realistic Targets:<\/p>\n Tim Hardaway Jr., G, Nuggets:<\/p>\n Skinny: I almost thought about putting THJ in the tier above. He\u2019s older, but finished third in Sixth Man of the Year voting last year after averaging 13.5 points on 44.7\/40.7\/81.1 shooting splits. He would be the Heat\u2019s mid-level option, if I had to guess.<\/p>\n Jock Landale, C, Hawks:<\/p>\n Skinny: Landale is a solid rebounder who\u2019s grown as a floor spacer. You can\u2019t have enough of those big men.<\/p>\n (Update: He re-signed with the Hawks 15 minutes after publishing \u2026 because #ofcourse, right?)<\/p>\n Bruce Brown Jr., G\/F, Nuggets:<\/p>\n Skinny: I feel most confident with Brown\u2019s scalability and versatility alongside Nikola Jokic than I do anywhere else. But he\u2019s a winning player, point blank.<\/p>\n Jaxson Hayes, C, Lakers:<\/p>\n Skinny: A springy vertical athlete who\u2019s still putting the pieces together? Perhaps there\u2019s some untapped potential Miami can unlock!<\/p>\n Dean Wade, F, Cavaliers:<\/p>\n Skinny: Hey, look, D-Wade!<\/p>\n Luke Kennard, G, Lakers:<\/p>\n Skinny: Even though he\u2019s not as aggressive as I would like him to be, Kennard is one of the league\u2019s most efficient sharpshooters. <\/p>\n Kenrich Williams, F, Thunder:<\/p>\n Skinny: An under-the-radar option who I have liked for years because of his rebounding, 3-point shooting and multi-positional versatility defensively.<\/p>\n Kelly Oubre Jr., F, 76ers<\/p>\n Skinny: Miami was linked to him in the 2023 offseason.
