Five candidates are vying to become\u00a0the next Cape Coral<\/a> council member for District 6\u00a0in Southwest Florida<\/a>‘s Lee County<\/a>.<\/p>\n

District 6 includes northwest Cape Coral<\/a>, but the voting is done citywide for the four-year term. All eligible voters, regardless of party affiliation, will be able to cast their ballots in the non-partisan elections scheduled for Aug. 18.<\/p>\n

The two with the highest totals advance to the Nov. 3 general election. Incumbent Keith Long is not seeking reelection.<\/p>\n

Cape Coral has a council-manager form of government with seven districts with population sizes that are as equal as possible and\u00a0follow the center lines of streets or canals. Council members are paid an annual salary of more than $44,000.<\/p>\n

He worked<\/a> for more than 20 years as a digital marketing director for technology companies. “I am running to bring common sense, fiscal responsibility and real accountability to City Hall \u2014 both for our northwest neighborhoods and for the entire city of Cape Coral,” said Angrisano, 73. “I am not connected to or controlled by developers, insiders, special interests or the current establishment.”<\/p>\n

Born in Kentucky<\/a>, his jobs have included firefighter, funeral director and bar owner. “I am committed to working tirelessly for the betterment of our district,” said Huddleston, 61. “My passion for public service and community engagement drives my dedication to addressing the needs of our residents. I am not a yes man (and) aim to foster transparency and collaboration.”<\/p>\n

A Realtor and lifelong Lee resident, she is 20th Judicial Circuit chief deputy court administrator.<\/a> “My priorities are straightforward: Protect taxpayers, support law enforcement and first responders, improve infrastructure, manage growth responsibly, economic development and preserve the quality of life that makes Cape Coral a great place to live and raise a family,” said King, 51.<\/p>\n

He has worked<\/a> for IBM, Merrill Lynch and other companies, and later served as real estate broker. “My career has been built on creating systems, managing critical operations and solving complex financial challenges \u2014 the same skills our city needs today,” said Mule, 64. “I love this city and want to see it be the best it can be for current and future generations.”<\/p>\n

With 40 years rooted<\/a> in Cape Coral, she served as law enforcement officer in the U.S. Air Force. “I don’t just talk about getting involved \u2014 I do the work,” said Warren, 48. “I believe my experience, relationships and long-term commitment to this community make me uniquely qualified to help guide Cape Coral through its next chapter.”<\/p>\n
