The Villagers held their annual \u201cEnd of the Year\u201d Luncheon on May 22 at Mais y Agave in Coral Gables. During the gathering, the organization was presented with a proclamation from the office of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava recognizing The Villagers\u2019 60th anniversary and Historic Preservation Month.<\/p>\n
The afternoon also included the installation of officers, officiated by Shuffield Bessellieu, with Carmen Diaz Padron succeeding Gina Guilford as president. For six decades, The Villagers have played a vital role in preserving South Florida\u2019s historic landmarks and promoting cultural preservation throughout the community.<\/p>\n
The General Federation of Women\u2019s Clubs (GFWC) Florida District 11 Spring Workshop was held June 20 at The Miami Woman\u2019s Club, where newly installed District Director Shirley Pardon presided over her first district meeting. Representatives from clubs throughout South Florida gathered to exchange ideas and share ongoing projects, plans, and initiatives for the coming year.<\/p>\n
Speaking of GFWC, the GFWC Doral West Dade Woman\u2019s Club was on hand promoting its second party-bus excursion to the Boynton Beach headquarters of South Florida PBS. Following the success of its April fundraiser to experience the wildly popular Titanic: The Immersive Voyage, the club is planning an even bigger adventure on August 22 featuring two exciting new virtual reality experiences running through the end of August: Colosseum: The Legendary Arena and Napoleon: The Immersive Saga.<\/p>\n
The luxury bus will depart at 3 p.m. from Miami International Mall in Doral for a fun-filled day featuring food and beverages provided by R Catering and Birdie Bistro owner Rita Tennyson, plus games and prizes hosted by emcee Steven Bradley of Vivo Sports & Social. Tickets, which include transportation and admission to both experiences, are $175 per person ($182 if paid by credit card), with proceeds benefiting the club\u2019s nonprofit partners.
