Miami Marlins Top 30 Prospect Additions<\/p>\n

26. Juan Matheus<\/a>, 2B\/3B<\/p>\n

BA Grade: 40\/Average<\/p>\n

Track Record: A $10,000 signing out of Venezuela in 2022 as an overlooked 18-year-old, Matheus has grown an inch and added 40 pounds since he signed. He was one of four prospects the Marlins acquired from the Yankees in the Ryan Weathers trade before the 2026 season. He has made strides in getting to his power since the trade.<\/p>\n

Scouting Report: Matheus has the all-out, grinder mentality befitting a hitter who went unsigned for two years before getting his chance. He doesn\u2019t do anything spectacularly, but he\u2019s a switch-hitter who is equally adept from either side of the plate. He has above-average bat control, an average understanding of the strike zone and the ability to get to every bit of his below-average power. So far, he has been a very useful addition to the Marlins\u2019 organization. Matheus\u2019 average arm makes him a viable option at third base as well as second base and his hands work well. His range limitations make him a passable fill-in at shortstop, but not an everyday option.<\/p>\n

The Future: The Marlins love to collect middle infielders with speed, bat control and positional versatility. Matheus fits that profile perfectly. He\u2019s probably not a big league regular, but he could carve out a useful part-time role thanks to his switch-hitting, on-base and baserunning skills and positional versatility.<\/p>\n

Scouting Grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 40 | Run: 55 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50.\u00a0<\/p>\n

27. Manuel Genao<\/a>, RHP<\/p>\n

BA Grade: 50\/Extreme<\/p>\n

Track Record: Genao signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2023, but because of an arm injury he didn\u2019t debut in the Dominican Summer League until 2024, and he\u2019s been brought along deliberately. He has blossomed in 2026 into one of the most consistent and impressive starters in the Florida State League.<\/p>\n

Scouting Report: While he\u2019s definitely heavier than his listed 6-foot-1, 150 pounds, Genao has plenty of room to further fill out his long-limbed, skinny frame. Genao has shown feel for manipulating the baseball and mixing pitches, and he does it while sitting in the mid 90s and touching 97 mph with his sinker and four-seam fastball. His sinker is a future above-average offering, although his command of it varies significantly from inning to inning and start to start. Genao\u2019s mid-80s slider is a plus pitch with depth that works best when he gets it down at the bottom or below the zone. He can make that slider bigger and slower to serve as a low-80s curveball, although that version of the pitch isn\u2019t as effective. He has worked to try to find a changeup that suits him. At its best, it\u2019s a low-80s pitch with some deception, but he struggles to command it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Future: Genao has a starter\u2019s stuff and a solid understanding of how to attack hitters. He has demonstrated that he\u2019s a consistent strike-thrower, even if his command of multiple offerings needs to improve.<\/p>\n

Scouting Grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 40 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 40 | Control: 50.\u00a0<\/p>\n

30. Eiver Mosquera<\/a>, RHP<\/p>\n

BA Grade: 45\/High<\/p>\n

Track Record: It\u2019s been a rough year for pitching injuries for the Marlins. Thomas White, Robby Snelling, Kevin Defrank, Keyner Benitez and Grant Shepardson have all missed significant time. But the Marlins\u2019 lower levels are teeming with good arms, including Mosquera. A 19-year-old 2025 signee out of Venezuela, Mosquera made four starts in the Florida Complex League before being promoted to Low-A Jupiter, where he has worked in long relief stints as he adjusts to the league.<\/p>\n

Scouting Report: For now, Mosquera is primarily a three-pitch fastball\/slider pitcher with a power-heavy approach. His above-average four-seam fastball sits 94-96 and touches a tick or two higher, but it\u2019s his upper-80s gyro slider and mid-80s plus-plus sweeper that give hitters fits. Mosquera has an advanced feel for spin for his age, and he manages to keep the two sliders separate and distinct, something many younger pitchers struggle to maintain. He has toyed with a true changeup to lefties, but he lacks feel for it. Mosquera has broad shoulders and impressive physicality. He can get a bit out of sync at times with his delivery, and there\u2019s plenty of effort to it. He will sometimes finish pitches facing away from home plate as he tries to dissipate the considerable energy generated in his arm by his arm speed. That contributes to his below-average control.<\/p>\n

The Future: Mosquera\u2019s effortful delivery and lack of comfort throwing a true changeup point toward a long-term relief role, although he is young enough to change that trajectory.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scouting Grades: Fastball: 55 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 30 | Sweeper: 70 | Control: 40.<\/p>\n

Miami Marlins Prospect Graduates<\/p>\n

Joe Mack<\/a>, C: Mack\u2019s defense has been as advertised since he reached the majors. He shuts down running games, is an above-average pitch framer and a solid blocker. Offensively, he started slow but is trending in the right direction.<\/p>\n

Miami Marlins Prospect Risers<\/p>\n

Karson Milbrandt<\/a>, RHP: Milbrandt continues to author one of the best seasons in the minors. He has had some adjustment issues with the smaller Triple-A strike zone, but even that hasn\u2019t really caused him many issues because of his ability to miss bats and hitters\u2019 struggles to square him up. Triple-A hitters have just one extra-base hit (a double) through his first four starts, and they are averaging 85 mph exit velocities on balls in play against him.<\/p>\n

Luis Arana<\/a>, SS: Arana will need to keep getting stronger, but his bat-to-ball skills and feel for the game are quite advanced for his age. He has hit everywhere the Marlins have sent him, including Low-A Jupiter after a quick promotion out of the Florida Complex League.<\/p>\n

Miami Marlins Prospect Fallers<\/p>\n

Brandon Compton<\/a>, OF: Compton is striking out nearly 35% of the time at High-A Beloit. He does have power potential, but the offensive expectations for a corner outfielder are quite high, and his lack of contact skills and adjustability to his swing are worrisome.<\/p>\n

PJ Morlando<\/a>, OF: Morlando has struggled to stay healthy as a pro, but when he has played, he has failed to show the offensive impact envisioned when he was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2024 draft. Morlando is a career .195\/.344\/.307 hitter who has yet to make it out of Low-A.<\/p>\n

Noble Meyer<\/a>, RHP: Like Morlando, Meyer has struggled to stay healthy. When Meyer is on the mound, his stuff hasn\u2019t been as potent, even after returning from a shoulder strain to work back into form at Low-A. For two years in a row, Meyer showed up to spring training with plus velocity and then struggled to maintain it during the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Miami Marlins Prospect Injuries<\/p>\n

Lefthander Thomas White<\/a> missed the start of the season with an oblique strain. He returned from that to make five starts at Triple-A, but he suffered a left shoulder capsular strain in mid May that will likely sideline him for the rest of the minor league season.<\/p>\n

Lefthander Robby Snelling<\/a> is out until 2027 after UCL surgery.<\/p>\n

Outfielder Kemp Alderman<\/a> has returned from an elbow sprain that cost him a month of time on the injured list.<\/p>\n

Righthander Grant Shepardson<\/a> is on the 60-day IL with an elbow injury that will sideline him the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Lefthander Keyner Benitez<\/a> left his May 7 start with an arm injury.
