The VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure is delayed in opening today, July 1, and may be related to a reported direct lightning strike yesterday. <\/p>\n

VelociCoaster Delayed\"Jurassic<\/a><\/p>\n

Guests wanting to ride the VelociCoaster at Universal Islands of Adventure will have to wait a bit, as the ride is delayed in opening today. As of the time of writing, the ride is still not in operation. This may be due to the ride being hit by lightning during the storms yesterday, though we are not sure at this time if that is the case.<\/p>\n

Storms yesterday also led to over two dozen attractions being closed <\/a>at the nearby Walt Disney World Resort.<\/p>\n

The official\u00a0website description<\/a>\u00a0of VelociCoaster reads:<\/p>\n

Speeding through the jungle, rising high above the terrain, it\u2019s the apex predator of roller coasters: the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. Now you can board your vehicle for a high-speed dash through the park\u2019s raptor paddock. Feel the rush of the hunt as you race alongside these nimble predators, twisting and soaring above the land and water. Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal\u2019s Islands of Adventure.<\/p>\n

Guests must be at least 51\u2033 to ride, and Universal Express Pass is accepted. Jurassic World VelociCoaster is the fastest and tallest launch coaster in Florida. At the very start of the ride, you\u2019ll launch 70 mph in just 2.4 seconds.<\/p>\n

The attraction has won several awards, including\u00a0USA Today 10Best Readers\u2019 Choice: Best New Theme Park Attraction 2021<\/a>,\u00a0Best New Rollercoaster of 2020\/2021<\/a>\u00a0from Golden Ticket Award, and\u00a0Best New Attraction of 2021<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Best Rollercoaster of 2021<\/a>\u00a0from Theme Park Insider.<\/p>\n
