R&B and soul musician India.Arie<\/a> slammed Yung Miami<\/a>\u2019s viral hit \u201cSpend Dat\u201d<\/a> as a negative influence on listeners.<\/p>\n

The 4-time Grammy winner, known for empowerment anthems like “Video”<\/a> and \u201cI Am Not My Hair,\u201d<\/a> weighed in Tuesday after a Threads user shared their disgust with the song, which climbed up the Billboard Hot 100<\/a> this week at No. 25.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m calling a boycott of Yung Miami\u2019s song \u201cSpend Dat,\u201d\u201d read the post. \u201cI believe it\u2019s degrading to our culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the potential song of the summer<\/a>, Yung Miami shouts out scammers and boosters (a person who resells stolen items) and calls on money-makers to \u201cspend that shit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arie co-signed the post, writing, “I spent my entire adult life caring way too much because I finally learned that not everybody cares (with a capital C).\u201d<\/p>\n

“And explaining it to them is not going to make them care. Everything you listen to or eat is going to influence you. So, make wise choices, y’all,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

When another Threads user addressed Yung Miami\u2019s character statement<\/a> of Bad Boy Records<\/a> co-founder Diddy<\/a>, who\u2019s currently in prison for two counts of violating the Mann Act<\/a>, India replied that the \u201cmass acceptance\u201d of \u201cSpend Dat\u201d was a \u201ccrystal clear sign of this much bigger truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I finally realized that not everybody wants to get free. And it was a very, very, very rude awakening,\u201d the artist wrote.<\/p>\n

Arie, who\u2019s criticized other Black female entertainers<\/a> like Megan Thee Stallion<\/a> for having sexually charged performances, later dispelled the allegation that she wanted \u201cSpend Dat\u201d to be boycotted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want you to have an understanding of what\u2019s good for you and to have the love for yourself to do it,\u201d Arie said in a Substack video. \u201cBut also, who cares what I want for you?
