(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014 A Florida woman\u2019s life was cut short after an alligator fatally mauled her on a hike with her boyfriend.<\/p>\n Brittany Clark, 31, was on a weekend hike last weekend with her boyfriend and a friend when they decided to cool down by taking a dip in the Econlockhatchee River in Florida\u2019s Little Big Econ State Forest.<\/p>\n The group was only in three feet of water when a 12-foot alligator pounced on Clark and started doing the \u201cdeath roll,\u201d according to the medical examiner\u2019s report. Officials said she lost both of her arms in the attack before she died.<\/p>\n 400-pound black bear hit, killed by vehicle on Florida highway <\/a><\/p>\n Her boyfriend tried to pull the alligator away from her, but he, too, was pulled into the water and was unable to save her.<\/p>\n Clark later died at the hospital from her injuries.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was an amazing person; she was nice and helpful with anyone that needed any kind of help,\u201d Clark\u2019s brother, Nick, told local news outlet FOX 35<\/a>.<\/p>\n Wildlife officials have since euthanized and decapitated the alligator, keeping its head as evidence.<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
