<\/p>\nPORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WPEC) \u2014 The battle over a proposed professional soccer stadium in Port St. Lucie continues. Tuesday night, City Council members will vote on the New Stadium. The special meeting agenda is more than 150 pages in length, so there is a lot of information for leaders to unpack.<\/p>\n
Some of the points in the agenda for the professional soccer stadium in Port St. Lucie include the creation of more jobs both during construction and afterwards. The proposed stadium will also bring more revenue and tourism to the area, and it will be used beyond sporting events \u2014 including concerts, cultural events, and youth recreation.<\/p>\n

Those against the project call it ill-timed and fiscally misguided, citing that it\u2019ll create a traffic nightmare in already congested areas. There are over 2,000 signatures voting against the stadium on a Change.org <\/a>petition. <\/p>\n The plan is to bring in more restaurants, shops, and housing to the area in addition to the stadium \u2014 which will cost the city upwards of $27 million.<\/p>\n Port St. Lucie leaders to vote on proposed soccer stadium during special meeting.
