SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WSVN) \u2014 A string of recent alligator attacks have sparked major concerns in Central Florida.<\/p>\n
There have been three alligator attacks within seven days across Central Florida, and the latest encounter was deadly, claiming the life of a woman whose family said she loved being out on the water.<\/p>\n
Family members remembered Brittany Clark for what they described as her fun-loving spirit.<\/p>\n
The 31-year-old from Orlando died after she was attacked by an alligator while swimming in the river at Little Big Econ State Forest in Seminole County, Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Recently released 911 calls captured the heart-stopping moments after the attack.<\/p>\n
\u201cSomebody got bit by a gator,\u201d said a 911 dispatcher.<\/p>\n
\u201cBad, real bad, please hurry,\u201d said a 911 caller.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe tried to get rid of the gator. Get away from the gator,\u201d said a 911 caller.<\/p>\n
\u201cOK, and how bad is the bite?\u201d said a 911 dispatcher.<\/p>\n
\u201cHorrible,\u201d said a 911 caller.<\/p>\n
Authorities said Clark was with her boyfriend and a friend at the time of the fatal encounter.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was bitten on both of her arms. The boyfriend was the one that made the phone call; he was trying to get her from the alligator\u2019s mouth,\u201d said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesperson Chad Weber.<\/p>\n
Hikers in the area were left in disbelief.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve seen really big gators in here. I\u2019ve never heard of an attack, though,\u201d said Leia Viera.<\/p>\n
According to FWC, two alligators were captured in that area.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne was 12 foot, the other was 13 foot,\u201d said Weber.<\/p>\n
Frank Robb has over three decades of experience dealing with Florida alligators.<\/p>\n
\u201cFWC has a lot of steps they\u2019ll go through. They\u2019ll look at bite patterns, look for DNA things of that nature,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Just a day earlier, at a fishing camp in Marion County, an alligator bit a boy on his hand while he was fishing with his father.<\/p>\n
FWC said they captured and killed that nearly 9-foot-long reptile.<\/p>\n
And on June 21, a snorkeler suffered an alligator bite in a river, around 100 miles north from Sunday\u2019s deadly attack.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can find alligators in every \u2013 pretty much every body of water in Florida. It\u2019s about being aware of your surroundings,\u201d said Robb. \u201cIf you have an alligator that\u2019s been fed, you\u2019re dealing with one that\u2019s not afraid of people anymore, will approach people, will not naturally be afraid and move away, and that\u2019s when the risk goes up.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to wildlife officials, Florida is home to over a million alligators, but attacks on people are uncommon.<\/p>\n
The state reported 13 alligator attacks back in 2025. Two of them were fatal.<\/p>\n
