SUNRISE, Fla.\u202f\u2013\u202fFlorida Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager\u00a0Bill\u00a0Zito\u00a0announced today that the club has agreed to terms with\u00a0defenseman\u00a0Alexander Petrovic\u00a0on a two-year\u00a0contract\u00a0commencing\u00a0in 2026-27.<\/p>\n

Petrovic,\u00a034, appeared in 54 regular season games with the Dallas Stars in 2025-26, producing 10 points (2-8-10)\u00a0while ranking\u00a0second among\u00a0Stars blueliners\u00a0with 88 hits.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a06-foot-5, 215-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta\u00a0has skated in 323\u00a0career\u00a0NHL games across\u00a010 seasons with Dallas (2023-24 to 2025-26), the Edmonton Oilers (2018-19) and Florida (2012-13 to 2018-19),\u00a0posting 60 points (7-53-60), 411 penalty minutes, 731 hits and 384 blocked shots.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Petrovic has skated in 485 American Hockey League (AHL) games over\u00a010\u00a0seasons, posting 176 points (37-139-176)\u00a0between\u00a0the Texas Stars (2021-22\u00a0to 2024-25), Stockton Heat (2020-21), Providence Bruins (2019-20)\u00a0and San Antonio Rampage (2011-12\u00a0to\u00a02014-15), respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He served as an alternate captain in his final season with San Antonio in 2014-15, where he was also named to the AHL All-Star Game,\u00a0and\u00a0in\u00a0all four seasons with Texas.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Originally selected by\u00a0the Panthers in the\u00a0second round (36th\u00a0overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Petrovic competed in\u00a0five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Red Deer Rebels from 2007-08 to 2011-12. He was named to the WHL (East) First All-Star Team\u00a0and was awarded the Bill Hunter Trophy\u00a0as the\u00a0WHL\u2019s\u00a0Top Defenseman in 2011-12\u00a0after amassing 48 points (12-36-48) and 141 penalty minutes\u00a0in\u00a068 contests.\u00a0<\/p>\n
