I HEY, JUST SAYING. ANYWAY, YEAH, IT’S BEAUTIFUL THIS MORNING. YOU DON’T NEED TO GO CLIMBING. YOU JUST NEED TO GO OUTSIDE AND ENJOY. THAT’S WHERE THE REAL BEAUTY IS, RIGHT? IT COULD BE AT THE SURFACE OR ANYWHERE ELSE YOU WANT TO GO FOR TODAY. 30% COVERAGE OF RAIN. THE GOOD NEWS IS THERE’S NOT A TON OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IN THE FORECAST FOR TODAY. AS A MATTER OF FACT, HIGH TEMPERATURE GETS TO ABOUT 92 DEGREES. HERE’S FUTURECAST SHOWING LUNCHTIME, A FEW SHOWERS POPPING ON UP, AND THEN LITTLE BY LITTLE THEY’LL WORK INLAND. TWO, THREE, 4:00 OR SO. THEN WE LOOK AHEAD TO TOMORROW. YOUR FRIDAY RED HOT AND BOOM, BIG EVENT. LOOKS LIKE WE’LL HAVE STORMS EARLY IN THE EVENT AND THEN PUSHING AND PUSHING TOWARD SUNSET. THINGS WILL GRADUALLY CLEAR ON OUT. AND AS A MATTER OF FACT, THE SAME THING HOLDS TRUE FOR OUR SATURDAY. IF YOU’VE GOT 4TH OF JULY PLANS THAT INCLUDE FIREWORKS OR ANYTHING ELSE AROUND SUNSET, THE STORMS DO COME TO AN END. BUT I WANT YOU TO NOTICE SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY. YOU SEE THESE TEMPERATURES CLIMBING. IF YOU’VE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO NATIONAL WEATHER, THERE’S BEEN THIS BIG HEAT DOME OVER TOP OF THE NORTHEAST UNITED STATES THAT STARTS RECEDING DOWN TO OUR AREA FOR NEXT WEEK. AND WHAT THAT’S GOING TO HELP TO DO IS BUILD UP THOSE TEMPERATURES WILL BE BACK INTO THE MID 90S WITH FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES GETTING KIND OF OUT OF CONTROL. SO THAT’S WHERE WE’RE AT FOR NOW THOUGH. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. OUR TOWER CAM NETWORK TAKING US INTO DOWNTOWN ORLANDO. NOT SO BAD. WE’RE IN THE LOWER TO MID 70S OUT THERE. OUR FIRST WARNING LIVE DOPPLER RADAR CHECK. DID HAVE SOME RAIN EARLIER HERE IN BREVARD COUNTY. THAT HAS SINCE MOVED OUT, BUT IT KIND OF LETS US KNOW THE HIGHEST COVERAGE OF RAIN ZONE. IT’S GOING TO BE IN OUR SOUTHERN SPOTS TODAY. THE FURTHER NORTH YOU GO, I THINK THE DRIER THE ATMOSPHERE IS. SO WHATEVER YOUR PLANS ARE, WE’RE LOOKING GOOD. LOTS OF THAT SUMMERTIME SUNSHINE MAKING IT INTO THE LOWER RANGE OF THE 90S. TODAY, HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE FAIRLY HELD BECAUSE WE’RE NOT GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT A TON OF COOLING RAINS. BUT THINK OF IT LIKE THIS. TODAY IS THAT LAST DRIER DAY BECAUSE THAT STORM CHANCE STARTS TO INCREASE. LOOKING AHEAD TO THE WEEKEND FOR YOUR SATURDAY AND YOUR SUNDAY, IT’S LOOKING LIKE A 70% COVERAGE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS. SO THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST SHOWS THAT LAST DRY DAY TODAY. AND THEN WE START TO BUILD IN THE RAIN CHANCE BUILDING UP THE HEAT BY NEXT WEEK. COASTAL SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SAME IDEA. MOSTLY DRY TODAY. BUT WE START BRINGING THOSE STORM CHANCES BACK UP. AND EVEN IN O

Stormy pattern returns to Central Florida for holiday weekend

   Updated: 6:15 AM EDT Jul 2, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Central Florida will see another day with lower coverage of showers and storms.Rain chances sitting around 40% and highs near a seasonable 92 degrees.Storm coverage is expected to increase again on Friday, bringing a more active pattern that will continue through the holiday weekend. For now, the forecast for events such as Red, Hot, and Boom suggests storms will develop earlier in the day before conditions improve in time for fireworks.First Warning Weather Stay with WESH 2 online and on-air for the most accurate Central Florida weather forecast.RadarSevere Weather AlertsDownload the WESH 2 News app to get the most up-to-date weather alerts.
