Hot on the heels of near record-setting June heat<\/a>, Independence Day weekend in Tampa Bay should be just slightly warmer than normal.<\/p>\n

But summer rains have a chance to disrupt beach and barbecue plans.<\/p>\n

Meteorologists predict a 40-to-70% chance of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend. On Friday, the highest odds are during the morning and early afternoon. Shifting winds will delay possible showers until later in the afternoon Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

Daytime highs are expected to fall between 92 and 94 degrees Fahrenheit \u2014 just a couple degrees above average, said Rodney Wynn, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office.<\/p>\n

Feels-like temperatures could climb to about 103 degrees.<\/p>\n

Wynn said Tampa Bay’s weather has nothing to do with the heat dome that’s bringing extreme temperatures to the East Coast. Instead, he said, it’s shaping up to be a “pretty normal July: warm and humid.”<\/p>\n

“Nothing record breaking right now is expected for Tampa,” Wynn said.<\/p>\n

Meteorologists are not expecting any kind of hazards to boaters over the weekend. A slight breeze and little chop could make for good conditions on the water.<\/p>\n

“If you could steer clear of the thunderstorms and showers, it should be a very pleasant weekend to be out on the boat,” Wynn said. “Just a little on the warm side.”<\/p>\n
