July 3 (Reuters) – Tesla said on Friday its robotaxi was available in Miami, \u200cas the electric vehicle maker looks \u200cto expand its autonomous ride-hailing operations. <\/p>\n
The expansion highlights \u200bTesla’s efforts to increase adoption of its self-driving software, a version of which it uses in the robotaxis and a key \u200cpart of CEO \u2060Elon Musk’s shift from EVs to AI and robotics. <\/p>\n
“Robotaxi now available \u2060in Miami,” Tesla’s official robotaxi account said in a post on X. <\/p>\n
Tesla’s move comes \u200bas the \u200brobotaxi sector gains \u200bmomentum, with competitors \u200csuch as Alphabet’s Waymo and Amazon’s Zoox accelerating their expansion efforts. <\/p>\n
Tesla launched its unsupervised robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, in June, after announcing in April plans to expand \u200cthe offering to Dallas \u200band Houston. <\/p>\n
Musk said in \u200bMay he expects \u200bfully self-driving cars without human \u200csafety monitors to become \u200bmore widespread \u200bin the U.S. later this year. <\/p>\n
On Thursday, Tesla posted record-setting second-quarter deliveries that \u200bbeat Wall \u200cStreet estimates, led by a rebound \u200bin Europe. <\/p>\n
