(WCTV) &#8211; A strong high-pressure system has been keeping the eastern half of the country hot and will continue to keep temperatures above normal through the holiday weekend, including locally. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Feeling the heat this holiday weekend as temperatures climb into the mid-90s. A few cooling showers and storms are possible in the afternoon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Middle 90s continue this weekend, but as high pressure loosens its grip on the southeast, shower chances return during the afternoon hours on Saturday and Sunday.
