At least three others were transported for medical evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. \u2014 One person was killed and three others were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a lightning strike on Fort Myers Beach.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Crews were dispatched to the area of Estero Boulevard, where they found one person unresponsive.<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SheriffLeeFL\/status\/2073123404861833597?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">\u00a0Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said<\/a> at least three others were transported for medical evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Myers Beach Fire District said a bystander was performing CPR when crews arrived. However, due to the injuries, efforts were unsuccessful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are urging people to monitor the weather prior to going outside.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you observe lightning in the immediate area: stay out of the water, seek immediate shelter, and stay clear of loose or tall objects that could pose a risk or injury,&#8221; Sheriff Marceno <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SheriffLeeFL\/status\/2073123404861833597?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">wrote in a social media post.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Town of Fort Myers Beach also released a statement, extending its thoughts and prayers to the families affected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Crews were dispatched to Fort Myers Beach, where they found one person unresponsive.
