The event started at 4 p.m. Saturday but thunderstorms and lightning kept the crowds at bay until later in the evening. Fireworks started launching just before 9:10 p.m. “I’ve been here every year, except last year,” said U.S. Coast Guard veteran Roger Turcotte as he watched the Orlando Concert Band prepare to start playing at the bandshell. Meanwhile, food and drink vendors like Cameron Francis of Cam Cam Seafood said it’s an honor to serve the crowds while watching the fireworks. “The rain, you know, it affected us a little bit but the people still came out, we’re still having a good event,” he said. “We’re just enjoying ourselves on the 4th of July.” For many in the crowd, the annual event took on a special significance due to the monumental anniversary being celebrated. “250 is something big going on here in this country, and we’re thanking God for that,” said Eddy Morales.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
