WAS LOOKING AT ME JUST NOW WHEN I BROUGHT THAT UP. YEAH. OKAY, WE’LL MOVE ON. LISTEN, WE HAVE TO BE WATCHING THE STORMS, THOUGH, THIS AFTERNOON. OKAY. IF YOU’VE GOT OUTDOOR PLANS, JUST KNOW THAT IT’S GOING TO LIGHT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. IF YOU’VE GOT ONE OF THOSE, YOU KNOW, WHITE CHRISTMAS TREES, WE’RE NOT GOING TO. I MEAN, MAYBE WE HAVE COLORS, I DON’T KNOW. BUT LOOK AT OUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. ALL RIGHT. WE’VE GOT PLENTY OF SHOWERS AND STORMS, BUT THERE’S A DEFINITIVE SHIFT. OKAY. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, RAIN CHANCES GO DOWN. THESE TEMPERATURES GO UP. AND WHAT THAT LEADS TO IS BUILDING HEAT INDEX VALUES. FOR EXAMPLE, LOOKING AHEAD TO OUR WEDNESDAY. ALL RIGHT. LOOK AT HOW WE’LL FEEL. 108 IN PALM COAST. 104 IN LEESBURG FEELS LIKE 105 IN ORLANDO. THURSDAY FEELS LIKE 109 IN WILDWOOD. SO OBVIOUSLY WE’LL HAVE TO REALLY START SLOWING OUR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AS THAT HEAT BUILDS IN. THOSE FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES BUILD IN. THE REASON FOR THAT, OKAY, IS THAT ESSENTIALLY THAT BIG HEAT DOME THAT HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE NORTHEAST UNITED STATES THAT STARTS PUSHING MORE AND MORE INTO OUR AREA AND JUST SETS THE STAGE FOR THAT BUILDING HEAT FOR TODAY, WE’RE WATCHING OUR NORMAL RUN OF THE MILL SHOWERS AND STORMS. SO LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT FUTURECAST. ALL RIGHT. THIS MORNING WE’RE QUIET. A COUPLE OF AREAS OF RAINFALL. BUT LOOK AT LUNCHTIME TODAY. IT’S GOING TO BE ALONG THE I CORRIDOR. THEN LITTLE BY LITTLE MORE AND MORE STORMY WEATHER FIRING UP 2 P.M., THREE 4:00, WIDESPREAD RAIN GREENS, ORANGES AND REDS. OBVIOUSLY THAT’S WHERE WE GET INTO THE THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. YESTERDAY HAD OVER 20,000 LIGHTNING STRIKES IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. IT’S GOING TO BE THE SAME KIND OF IDEA LOOKING AHEAD TO TODAY AND THEN THROUGH ABOUT DINNER TIME, IT LINES UP ALONG THE I-95 CORRIDOR AND GRADUALLY FADES ON OUT. SO YEAH, BIG RAINS IN THE FORECAST FOR TODAY. THAT SAID, THE BIG IMPACT IS GOING TO BE THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS, HEAT INDEX VALUES TODAY GET INTO ABOUT 101 102, WHICH IS STILL PLENTY. SO TAKE IT EASY IF YOU’RE HEADING OVER TO THE BEACHES, RIP CURRENTS ARE GOING TO BE A THING. SO BACKYARD SWIMMING POOL. I KNOW WE’LL THROW THE KIDS IN THE BACKYARD SWIMMING POOL TODAY. IT’S A GOOD DAY TO DO THAT. I WILL JUST SAY IT’S A GOOD DAY UNTIL THE THUNDERSTORMS FIRE UP AND THEN YOU HAVE TO HEAD INSIDE. BEACHES KNOW THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING YOUR DIRECTION, SO ENJOY IT THROUGH ABOUT 2 P.M. AFTER THAT, IT’S GOING TO START GETTING STORMIER AND STORMIER ON THAT WESTERN HORIZON. BEFORE THE RAINS MOVE YOUR DIRECTION. MODERATE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS. THIS MORNING DOWNTOWN ORLANDO LOOKING LOVELY TEMPERATURE WISE. 75 IN THE CITY, 78 IN LEESBURG, 77 DEGREES IN OCALA. AND OUR FIRST WARNING LIVE RADAR TRACKING THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. ALREADY ABOUT 29. LIGHTNING STRIKES UP AND DOWN THE WEST COAST THERE, AND A FEW SHOWERS AS WELL HERE IN MELBOURNE, BREVARD COUNTY, KIND OF ALONG 192 DOWN TOWARD PALM BAY. SO FOR TODAY, WE WATCH THE TEMPERATURES CLIMB 87 BY 11:00, 90 BY 1 P.M. 93 OUR HIGH. WE SEE THOSE STORMS REALLY FIRING UP AROUND 3 P.M. AND THEN GRADUALLY TAPERING OFF TOWARDS SUNSET. BEST COVERAGE OF RAIN IS GOING TO BE THE METRO OFF TO THE EAST, THOUGH OF COURSE WE HAVE TO KIND OF WATCH THE OVERALL STRETCH. IT’S A SOUTHERLY WIND. WE’RE GRABBING THAT MOISTURE, BRINGING IT ON IN. NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WE’RE GOING TO GRADUALLY PUSH IN HIGHER PRESSURE, WHICH WILL SUBDUE THAT RAIN CHANCE. SO THAT’S WHY OUR TEMPERATURES START TO CLIMB AND OUR RAIN CHANCES START TO DROP OFF. COASTAL SEVEN-DAY FORECAST. FRANKLY, NOT MUCH DIFFERENT. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE THE STORMS THE FIRST PART OF T

Storms Monday afternoon; heat dome brings upper 90s to Central Florida end of week

   Updated: 6:01 AM EDT Jul 6, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Showers and storms are expected to move into Central Florida on Monday afternoon.
