TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A controversial road expansion project in Tallahassee hasn\u2019t seen any recent progress. <\/p>\n
City leaders met on Monday to consider next steps to end traffic concerns for drivers.<\/p>\n
The St. Joe Company is on the hook to build out roads in Southwood, including Orange Avenue and Esplanade Way.<\/p>\n
As work stalled, the company asked for an extension.<\/p>\n
In a special meeting, city commissioners could have penalized the owner of the property, NextGen Family Group for the delay, and the St. Joe Company for the delay. <\/p>\n
Instead, commissioners voted 3-2 to postpone any action with hopes city staff can do an analysis of the whole Southwood transportation network. <\/p>\n
Before the vote, an impacted HOA president shared his frustrations. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis sale has put this parcel of land in what I call land use purgatory. Nobody is responsible, nobody is accountable, and we are left holding the bag,\u201d<\/p>\n
The commissioners said they hope after the analysis is done, this issue will be back in front of them in August.<\/p>\n
