OKAY, I UNDERSTAND THOUGH, WE ARE WATCHING SHOWERS AND STORMS AGAIN. THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THE LAST DAY WHERE IT’S GOING TO BE A BUNCH OF RAIN FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN WE START TO SHIFT TO THIS FOCUS, WHICH IS RECORD HEAT. AND OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT FEW DAYS, TEN CITIES ACROSS THE PENINSULA, INCLUDING MANY HERE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, COULD GET TO RECORD HEAT ORLANDO, FOR EXAMPLE, I’M EYEBALLING SATURDAY SANFORD. IT’S GOING TO BE FRIDAY LEESBURG, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. SO YOU KIND OF GET THE IDEA. LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES HERE THESE NEXT FEW DAYS. AND EVEN THOUGH IT’S NOT GOING TO BE RECORD SETTING EVERY DAY, IT’S GOING TO BE HOT. REMEMBER, RECORDS ARE SET AND ADJUSTED EACH DAY. 96 FOR OUR FRIDAY IN ORLANDO, 97 ON SATURDAY AND 97 ON SUNDAY. THE AVERAGE HIGH THIS TIME OF YEAR IS 92. SO OBVIOUSLY WE ARE WAY OVER PLAYING THAT. AND THEN YOU GET INTO. OF COURSE THE FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURE WHEN YOU WORKING HUMIDITY. AND WE WILL FEEL LIKE 106 FOR FRIDAY SATURDAY. SO WE’RE GETTING AWFUL CLOSE TO HEAT ADVISORY TERRITORY, WHICH MEANS THE POOL IS GOING TO BE AN EXCELLENT SPOT TO GO FOR TODAY. IT’S A GOOD DAY UNTIL THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS FIRE UP, WHICH TODAY IS GOING TO BE EARLIER. LUNCHTIME. NOTICE THE RAIN STARTS OUT WEST AND THEN THROUGH THE AFTERNOON MOVES THROUGH. SO JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND. AND IF YOU’RE HEADING OVER TO THE BEACHES, THIS IS A FANTASTIC DAY UNTIL THOSE SKIES START TURNING BLACK BEHIND YOU AND OUR WESTERN HORIZON SEASON SURF NEARLY FLAT. LOW RISK OF RECURRENCE. THE HIGHEST COVERAGE OF RAIN IS GOING TO BE I-4 OFF TO THE SOUTH AND EAST, WHICH MEANS BREVARD’S BEACHES ARE GOING TO BE THE AREAS WE’LL HAVE TO WATCH IN PARTICULAR. SO LET’S GET RIGHT TO FUTURECAST. I DON’T OFTEN START AT 8 A.M., BUT HERE WE ARE. OKAY, TEN. WE BEGIN WITH THE RAINS. 11 12:00 SHOWERS AND THUNDERSHOWERS IN OUR WESTERN SPOTS. EARLY AFTERNOON GETTING MORE WIDESPREAD THROUGH THE METRO. AND THEN BY ABOUT 4:00 IT’S OUT EAST BEFORE IT CLEARS ON OUT. SO HEY, START, EARLY FINISH. THE GOOD NEWS, THOUGH, IS THAT WHILE, YES, WE’RE GOING TO DIAL DOWN THE RAIN CHANCES THESE NEXT FEW DAYS, IT DOESN’T COMPLETELY GO AWAY. THAT’S THE WAY MODELS WE’RE LOOKING YESTERDAY. THAT’S NOT THE CASE FOR TODAY. SO WHILE TODAY IS THE HIGHEST COVERAGE AND WE DRY OUT A BIT, AT LEAST WE STILL HAVE A FEW COOLING SHOWERS. AND THEN LOOKING AHEAD TO THIS WEEKEND, YESTERDAY WE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE BONE DRY. HAPPY TO SEE WE’RE GOING TO STILL GET A LITTLE BIT OF THAT RELIEF, EVEN THOUGH HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO SIT AT ABOUT 97 DEGREES TO AREAS LOOKING GREAT THIS MORNING. LIVE RADAR LOOKING QUIET THIS MORNING. BUT SEVEN DAY FORECAST PROMISING THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS FIRING UP THIS AFTERNOON. AND THEN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WE BUILD IN THAT HEAT DROP OFF. THE RAIN CHANCE A BIT FOR OUR THURSDAY, BUT BEGIN TO BRING THE COOLING RAINS BACK. LOOKING AHEAD TO THE UPCOMING WEEKEND ALONG THE COASTLINE. SAME KIND OF IDEA. YOU’LL BE NEARLY BONE DRY FOR WEDNESDA

Rain Tuesday afternoon ahead of record heat Friday into weekend in Central Florida

   Updated: 6:01 AM EDT Jul 7, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Expect another active afternoon across Central Florida on Tuesday with more showers and storms expected.
