Five-star edge rusher Darieon Prescott named Miami<\/a> among his final eight schools, alongside Oregon, Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Georgia. Prescott attends Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, Illinois.<\/p>\n

Prescott is one of the highest-ranked defensive prospects Miami has pursued in the 2028 cycle. The Rivals Industry Ranking has him No. 18 nationally, No. 5 among edge rushers and No. 1 in Illinois. 247Sports ranks him No. 7 overall and No. 3 at EDGE.<\/p>\n

He was named to MaxPreps’ Freshman All-America team after the 2024 season, then followed with a sophomore year that earned Southwest Prairie West All-Conference recognition and helped Bolingbrook reach the Illinois state quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

In his sophomore season at Bolingbrook, Prescott posted 65 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five sacks, 26 pressures, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks.<\/p>\n

Prescott visited Notre Dame in June, and the Fighting Irish currently hold a 29.4% projection in Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine.<\/p>\n

Miami has not yet scheduled a visit with Prescott, and that is the next major step for Mario Cristobal’s staff.<\/p>\n

Prescott would be Miami’s first defensive commitment in 2028. Miami currently has quarterback Knox Annis and offensive tackle Kweli Fielder in the fold.<\/p>\n

Miami has six players along the defensive line in its 2027 class.<\/p>\n

The Canes’ 2027 class is led by flip commit Jaiden Bryant. Bryant flipped from LSU and Lane Kiffin back in early June after being committed to the Tigers since January.<\/p>\n
