{"id":331721,"date":"2026-07-07T12:17:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T12:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/331721\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T12:17:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T12:17:07","slug":"orlando-to-break-ground-on-church-street-festival-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/331721\/","title":{"rendered":"Orlando to break ground on Church Street festival project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 City leaders are breaking ground Tuesday morning on the first phase of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlando.gov\/News\/Press-Releases\/2026-Press-Releases\/Groundbreaking-Set-for-Church-Streets-Transformation-into-Festival-Street\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.orlando.gov\/News\/Press-Releases\/2026-Press-Releases\/Groundbreaking-Set-for-Church-Streets-Transformation-into-Festival-Street\">Church Street Festival Project<\/a>, the latest effort to revitalize one of downtown Orlando\u2019s most historic stretches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The 10:30 a.m. groundbreaking marks the start of construction on the section of Church Street between Garland Avenue and the railroad tracks \u2014 the first of three phases planned over the next several years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The full project will span Church Street from Garland Avenue to Magnolia Avenue, with the goal of creating a festival-style atmosphere that prioritizes pedestrians while maintaining vehicle access.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Phase one includes repaving the road with two 11-foot travel lanes and a curbless roadway connecting to pedestrian spaces \u2014 designed to support outdoor dining, events, and local businesses.
