Manager Clayton McCullough pulled Perez after he was perfect through seven innings with eight strikeouts. Then the Athletics exploded for five runs in the eighth. Miami scored an insurance run in the ninth when Liam Hicks drove in a run on a groundout to the pitcher. It was vital for the victory because the A\u2019s scored three more in the bottom of the ninth.
