According to the Baldwin County Sheriff\u2019s Office jail roster, Gillum was taken into custody on July 2 at 10:44 p.m. local time for \u201cPossession Of Dangerous Drugs, Drug Paraphernalia-1st Offense, and Possession of Marijuana 2nd.\u201d<\/p>\n
The jail roster indicates he was released from custody on July 3.<\/p>\n
WCTV has reached out to the Baldwin County Clerk of Court for a copy of his arrest records.<\/p>\n
However, sister station WALA reports<\/a> that Daphne police said patrol officers stopped the former mayor on Highway 98 near North Main Street for erratic driving. Shortly after, one of the officers noticed a glass pipe on the vehicle\u2019s center console, according to WALA.<\/p>\n A further search of the vehicle allegedly revealed rolled marijuana cigarettes and three packs of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine were recovered, Daphne police told WALA. <\/p>\n This is not Gillum\u2019s first time facing criminal charges.<\/p>\n In 2022, he was indicted on multiple federal charges connected to campaign contribution fraud before and during his 2018 run for governor of Florida<\/a>. <\/p>\n In 2023, he was found not guilty of lying to the FBI, and the remaining 18 charges against him were ultimately dropped.<\/a><\/p>\n Gillum served as Tallahassee mayor from 2014 to 2018. He was also the Democratic challenger to Ron DeSantis during the 2018 General Election. He nearly won that election, obtaining 49.2% of the vote compared to the governor\u2019s 49.6%.<\/p>\n In the primary election for that race, Gillum narrowly defeated former U.S. Rep.
