FORT PIERCE \u2013 St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies have a suspect in custody from a shooting that occurred July 7 at a home in the 2700 block of Essex Drive, Fort Pierce, according to the sheriff\u2019s office Facebook posting.<\/p>\n
At about 3:30 p.m., deputies responded to a home in the 2700 block of Essex Drive following reports of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, deputies learned that a man shot another man with a rifle, according to the Facebook posting.<\/p>\n
Deputies immediately took the suspect into custody and began providing emergency medical care to the victim until St. Lucie County Fire District personnel arrived, according to the Facebook posting.<\/p>\n
The victim was then transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the Facebook posting.<\/p>\n
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were processing the scene and conducting interviews as of 5 p.m., July 7 and residents were informed that a significant law enforcement presence would be in the area for the foreseeable future as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
Based on the information available at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public, according to the Facebook posting.<\/p>\n
