Orange County, FL \u2013 More than 350 dogs and cats are waiting for loving homes at Orange County Animal Services, as the shelter enters its busiest time of the year. OCAS today announced an adoption promotion for the summer and an event to encourage people across central Florida to adopt.<\/p>\n
\u201cSummer is our most challenging time, with more animals arriving at the shelter and kitten season bringing hundreds of young kittens into our care,\u201d said Diane Summers, manager of Orange County Animal Services. \u201cEvery adoption truly makes a difference. When someone opens their home to a shelter pet, they\u2019re not only changing that animal\u2019s life, but they\u2019re also making room for the next pet that needs a safe place to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n
Adoption fees on all animals in OCAS\u2019 care have been reduced to $20 through August 31, 2026, significantly reducing the financial burden on new pet owners as part of the \u201cHot Dogs and Cool Cats\u201d adoption promotion. The reduced adoption fee will include spay or neuter procedure, microchipping, and initial vaccinations.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., OCAS will host the \u201cA Latte of Love Adopt-a-Thon\u201d in partnership with The Pink Seahorse Coffee Cart<\/a>. Adoption fees will be reduced to $5 for the day and the Pink Seahorse Coffee Cart will be selling specialty lattes and dirty sodas for people who visit the shelter.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s never been a better time to adopt,\u201d Summers said. \u201cEvery adoption gives a deserving animal a second chance while helping us continue caring for the many pets that arrive at our shelter every day.
