I hope everyone had a great Independence Day with their family\u202fand friends on the day that some of us\u00a0identify\u00a0simply as the \u201c4th of July!\u201d We need to remember that Independence Day\u00a0is a lot more important to each one of us than a few fireworks and a date on the calendar! We have paid dearly over the past 250 years to win\u2026 and keep\u2026 our independence and freedom from any other country that might want to take us over.\u00a0<\/p>\n
There were a lot of boats on the water over the weekend, and, hopefully, you got to do some\u00a0fishin\u2019. We did get some rain, but we need a whole lot more. Please pray for rain; our lakes and rivers need\u00a0itbadly.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

See Member Benefits<\/a>Join Our Newsletter<\/a><\/p>\n The\u00a0fishin\u2019 is\u00a0slowin\u00a0down in some\u00a0areas, but\u00a0holdin\u2019 steady in other parts of the state.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n In general, Florida bass\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0like that ole sun when it gets up, so they head to deeper, cooler water or hide in the thick grass to avoid the sun. Any area you find that provides shade or cooler\u00a0water,\u00a0you\u00a0should be able to find some bass\u00a0hangin\u2019 around. Docks are a good place to find bass because they provide shade and cooler water. So, if\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0fishin\u2019 a lake and it has some docks on it,\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0go past\u00a0thatdockwithout\u00a0givin\u2019 it a try. Try and cast as far back as you can and then\u202fwork your bait back to the front of the dock. Not every dock will have bass under it, but if you can find that\u00a0one dock that has bass under it, you might do\u00a0real\u00a0good.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n John at Bitters B&T reports that a few folks are\u00a0gettin\u2019 out on Lake Monroe and Lake Jesup and\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0catchin\u2019 some shellcrackers, most of \u2018em\u00a0on red worms.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Wednesday Night Maitland group held their tournament\u00a0on\u00a0Lake Fairview last week. They only had six boats that\u00a0fished\u00a0that tournament.\u00a0Congrats\u202fto the team of Noah\/Denzel on their win. They had three bass that hit the scales at 10.95 pounds.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The bass\u00a0fishin\u2019 has slowed down a little in Johns Lake this past week. It only took 12.25 pounds to win the Wednesday Night Shootout. There were 15 boats that\u00a0fished\u00a0out there last week.\u202fCongrats\u202fto Dalton and Dana Ray on their win. They\u00a0weighed-in\u00a0three bass that hit the scales at 12.25 pounds. They also caught the biggest bass that night, and it\u00a0weighed-in\u00a0at 5.0 pounds.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The bass\u00a0fishin\u2019 on the Butler Chain of Lakes is still\u00a0doin\u2019 good for numbers of bass. Folks are\u00a0catchin\u2019 some bass along the shoreline grass on topwater baits early in the\u00a0mornin\u2019. Once that ole sun gets\u00a0up, you\u00a0need to move to deeper water and fish the submerged hydrilla and peppergrass patches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The bass\u00a0fishin\u2019 has also been good down on West Lake Toho. Folks are\u00a0goin\u2019 out on four-hour trips and\u00a0catchin\u2019 some nice bass early in the\u00a0mornin\u2019 on shiners.\u00a0<\/p>\n They\u2019re still\u00a0catchin\u2019 some shellcrackers in Lake Kissimmee on red worms, as well.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Folks are\u00a0catchin\u2019 plenty of bass down at the Headwaters Lake, most of \u2018em\u00a0on topwater baits at first light. Once the sun gets up,\u00a0they\u2019recatchin\u2019em\u00a0on\u00a0chatterbaits, plastic worms, and slow-sinkin\u2019 Senko-type baits.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Well,\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0it for this week. I hope y\u2019all get a chance to get on the water and catch some fish.
