Marcello Hernandez is a legit World Cup superfan.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d star has really leaned into the mega tournament hitting his hometown. Late last month, he was photographed<\/a> sitting with actor Matt Damon and fellow comic John Leguizamo at the Portugal vs. Colombia match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.<\/p>\n

Hernandez also hooked up with Airbnb for a hilarious World Cup collaboration. In a promo video for the online short-term-rental platform, the popular comedian got a gig \u201cworking\u201d the iconic ventanita at Mary\u2019s Coin Laundry, the local haven for cafecito and pan con bistec on U.S. 1 and Southwest 27th Avenue, near Coconut Grove.<\/p>\n

In the skit, shot while the fun-loving Tartan Army was here for the matchup with Brazil, Hernandez memorably offers a croqueta to a Scot seeking haggis, aka \u201csheep lung.\u201d After one bite, the visiting UK patron is instantly converted.<\/p>\n

\u201cCroquetaaaa!\u201d the tourist screams in delight.<\/p>\n

Though Hernandez lives in NYC now for his plum gig, he\u2019s 305 through and through, and actually been into the sport of soccer a while. Born and raised in the Westchester area, Hernandez graduated from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, where he was a standout on the Wolverines and named first-team, all-Miami Dade. For college, the star midfielder got a scholarship to play at John Carroll University, a private Jesuit institution in Ohio, where Miami Dolphins legendary coach Don Shula attended.<\/p>\n

The \u201cAmerican Boy\u201d star recently told USA Today<\/a> how his two passions were both intensely different \u2014 and alike.<\/p>\n

\u201cSoccer\u2019s a full-time job because you\u2019re taking care of your body and I think that \u2018SNL\u2019 is a full-time job because of the schedule, but also you\u2019re taking care of your mind, you\u2019re trying to write stuff,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cIt\u2019s a much more mental game than a physical game, but pretty demanding for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
