Owner Jorgie Ramos says the restaurant\u2019s long-troubled elevator finally forced a reckoning after nearly five years of breakdowns, near misses, and nightly apologies to guests. \u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking,\u201d Ramos tells New Times. \u201cWe\u2019ve been trying for years to get it fixed. No one knows what\u2019s going on with it. It\u2019s gotten to the point where every night we\u2019re apologizing, and it\u2019s still not working properly.\u201d<\/p>\n The elevator issue, which dates back to Cebada\u2019s opening, has been both a safety concern and a logistical nightmare. Staff often carried heavy supplies up three flights of stairs, while guests had to make the same climb just to enjoy dinner or drinks.
