JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Duval County Public Schools ended its partnership with Hazel Health<\/a> on June 30 after several years of school-based telehealth support for students across the district.<\/p>\n

The partnership, which grew out of the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, helped students re-engage in in-person learning while providing mental and physical health services. Hazel Health \u2014 and later Hazel Heart \u2014 filled a critical gap as the district sought innovative ways to support families and increase daily attendance in the years following the pandemic.<\/p>\n

With the exception of students currently receiving mental health services, all operations through Hazel Health have concluded. <\/p>\n

District officials want families to know that help is still available and that seeking support remains a strong, positive step.<\/p>\n

Physical health resources still in place<\/p>\n

School staff will continue to provide school-based support for everyday illnesses and injuries. Families that qualify may also access free, 24\/7 telehealth care through the City of Jacksonville\u2019s Healthlink JAX program.<\/p>\n

Mental health support remains accessible<\/p>\n

Families are encouraged to reach out to their child\u2019s school counselor as a first step. School counselors can assess a child\u2019s needs, provide short-term support, connect families with school-based services \u2014 including the school social worker \u2014 and make referrals to Full Service Schools providers when appropriate.<\/p>\n

Additional mental health resources are available through the school district\u2019s GROW Mental Health resources page<\/a> for students and through Wolfson\u2019s Common Thread Resource Library, which offers practical articles for parents and caregivers on topics including anxiety, stress, depression, motivation and social challenges.<\/p>\n

Families can also search for mental health resources by location, insurance coverage, specialty and child age through the following:<\/p>\n
