TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Florida Sheriffs Association is launching a capital campaign to help fund its new Florida Sheriffs Youth Learning Center.<\/p>\n
The new center, located on Mahan Drive, had its groundbreaking last July.<\/p>\n
Thursday, crews were hard at work building a place for Florida\u2019s youth to be inspired.<\/p>\n
The Florida Sheriffs Youth Learning Center will serve as a hands-on educational facility where kids can learn about law enforcement careers.<\/p>\n
Deputy Executive Director of Operations Logan Lewkow said donations can be small and all are going to help ensure the best for the youth.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to make sure that we have the best things available for the youth and so that\u2019s going to really help with those interactive displays and help to fit the actual Youth Learning Center,\u201d Lewkow said. \u201cYou can do as little as, you know, a dollar to $5. There are also opportunities to have a brick. There will be a walkway that goes from our memorial at our headquarters that leads into the Youth Learning Center itself.\u201d <\/p>\n
Planned features for the center include interactive public safety exhibits, a library and a 67 seat theater representing each sheriff\u2019s office in Florida.<\/p>\n
