The Florida Department of Education\u00a0(FDOE)\u00a0recently awarded Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) with\u00a0its third consecutive \u201cA\u201d district grade.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEarning an \u2018A\u2019 district grade for the third consecutive year is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of the unwavering dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families,\u201d said Superintendent Maria Vazquez in an OCPS news release. \u201cThese results demonstrate the power of sustained effort and our commitment to continuous improvement along with the strong collaboration between our instructional and administrative school-teams.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the release, the total number of traditional A-graded OCPS schools rose from 96 in the 2024-25 school year to 101\u00a0in the 2025-26\u00a0school\u00a0year. No OCPS schools\u00a0earned a grade of \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled that the\u00a0district again\u00a0received an \u2018A\u2019 letter grade,\u201d said Melissa Byrd, Orange County School Board District 7 member, in an email to The Apopka Chief. \u201cIt reflects that hard work being done at all of our local public schools each and every day to ensure that our students are receiving a stellar education.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Byrd\u00a0represents\u00a030 schools<\/a>, including all schools with an Apopka address.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very proud of the work being done throughout District 7,\u201d said Melissa Byrd, Orange County School Board District 7 member, in an email to The Apopka Chief. \u201cWe saw significant gains in all subject areas. Many schools moved up a\u00a0letter\u00a0grade like Clay Springs Elementary, Lakeville Elementary and Piedmont Lakes Middle that are \u2018B\u2019\u00a0schools again\u00a0and Wolf Lake Middle\u00a0School\u00a0which is an \u2018A\u2019 school! I am so incredibly proud of\u00a0all of\u00a0our schools for so many reasons beyond grades.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0\u201cSchool Grades\u201d Excel sheet<\/a>\u00a0released by the FDOE, three Apopka grade schools received an \u201cA\u201d rating: Wolf Lake Elementary, Kelly Park and\u00a0Wolf Lake Middle.\u00a0Kelly Park earned 715\u00a0total\u00a0points, the most of any Apopka OCPS\u00a0grade\u00a0school,\u00a0and\u00a0alsoearned\u00a0the highest scores in Apopka\u00a0in the mathematics achievement, social studies\u00a0achievement\u00a0and mathematics learning gains categories.\u00a0Wolf Lake Elementary\u00a0earned\u00a0the\u00a0highest scores\u00a0of all Apopka grade schools\u00a0in the categories of English language arts achievement, science achievement and\u00a0English language arts learning gains.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYear after year, we have built on our successes by using data to guide instruction, strengthening support for students, and remaining focused on what matters most, which is student achievement,\u201d Vazquez said. \u201cOur goal is to continue expanding opportunities for every learner and ensure that every school is a place where students can thrive.
